The Housing Development Corporation (HDC) has extended the deadline to apply for space in the newly established 'pocket parking' zones in Hulhumalé until October 10. Interested applicants can submit their forms through HDC’s official website or at the reception during official working hours throughout the extended period.
A total of 1,374 parking spaces are available across eight designated zones, which will be leased for a year at a rate of MVR 2,000 per month. HDC has outlined specific criteria for applicants: individuals must be 18 years or older, with their name registered on a category B1 or C1 vehicle in the Malé area. Furthermore, applicants must be residents of the Malé region.
Priority will be given to vehicles registered in Hulhumalé, with any remaining slots allocated to vehicles registered elsewhere in Malé. The final allocation of parking spaces will be determined through a draw process, ensuring a fair and transparent method for selecting tenants.
This initiative is aimed at alleviating the parking challenges faced by residents in Hulhumalé, which continues to experience rapid urban development. The draw-based allocation will help streamline the process of renting these spaces to eligible applicants, with a focus on meeting the local demand first.
The extension of the deadline offers additional time for those eligible to secure parking in the ever-growing urban hub of Hulhumalé.
