Hulhumalé Phase III Reclamation Nears Completion at 94%

Land reclamation works for Hulhumalé Phase III have reached 94 per cent completion, with 59 hectares successfully reclaimed out of the planned total of 63 hectares, according to an update from Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL).
MACL reported that reclamation is progressing steadily, with the remaining works expected to be finalised next week.
The project began in October 2023 but experienced several temporary interruptions. Reclamation activities resumed on 10 November 2025 and have since accelerated following the deployment of two large dredgers to the site.
Once the reclamation phase is fully completed, the Government plans to proceed with the allocation of land plots in the newly developed area, advancing the next stage of Hulhumalé’s urban expansion.
Hulhumalé Phase III forms a critical part of the Government’s strategy to increase land availability and address housing demand in the Greater Malé Region.
