On the 28th of this month, PNC's Chairperson and President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s campaign manager, Fonadhoo MP Abdul Raheem Abdulla, and Dhangethi MP Mohamed Nazim have been nominated for the positions of Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the People's Majlis, respectively.
Out of the 74 members of the People's Majlis, the PNC has put forward these two candidates for the leadership positions. This decision comes under the endorsement of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu and his campaign team, supported by the PNC’s members.
Abdul Raheem has over five years of experience with the PPM/PNC coalition and is a recognized leader within the coalition's ranks. His selection as the candidate for parliment Speaker is expected to bring significant support. Meanwhile, Nazim has been actively involved in parliamentary politics for the past 18 years and is known for his diplomatic and political acumen. His experience is expected to be beneficial in his role as the Deputy Speaker.
Abdul Raheem and Nazim's nominations have been finalized with the endorsement of President Dr. Muizzu, reflecting the trust and confidence placed in their leadership by the PNC members.
The decision to nominate these candidates for the leadership of the People's Majlis was made with the support of the PNC parliamentary group, which includes 74 members.
