India and Maldives to Compete in Next Presidential Election: Adhurey

President of the People's National Congress (PNC) and interim leader of the opposition coalition Abdul Raheem Abdulla (Adhurey) has stated that India and Maldives will be competing in the next Maldivian presidential elections.
During an event held by the opposition on Sunday night, Adhurey noted that he has stated as such at a previous event in Addu City.
He claimed that the Leader of the Progressive Congress Coalition and former President Yameen Abdul Gayoom will be competing on behalf of the Maldives, and candidates of all other parties will be representing India.
He described the elections as a powerful match between India and Maldives. Adhurey stressed that it is the responsibility of the Maldivian defense force, police, and citizens to ensure that the win is secured by the national team.
Highlighting the situation in Kashmir, Adhurey said that its real residents have been left helpless. He implored that the Maldives must follow the example of Mauritius and fight against India's efforts.
He further stated that India has passed the verdict to detain former President Yameen. He claimed that India's animosity towards the former president, and being forced to remain in his home, is due to the fact that he refused to sell the Maldives to India.
