Former Islamic Minister and former Chancellor of the Maldives Islamic University Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed has stated that all patriotic Maldivians must come under the shade of one umbrella, and that umbrella is the Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM).
During the launching ceremony of the opposition coalition's "Maldivians in Defense of Independence" campaign, Dr. Shameem stated that what he spoke about in the 2018 presidential elections is now coming true.
"Tonight, I remember what I addressed in the 2018 presidential elections. Even then, I described to some extent the possible outcomes of the end of President Yameen Abdul Gayoom's tenure", said Dr. Shaheem.
The former minister claimed that national aims have become compromised, civil development has been halted, and that there are challenges to the tenets of Islam. He reiterated that now is the time for citizens to stand united under the guidance of one unit.
He added that those disbanded must be united under one umbrella to mend the nation's situation and that with the blessing of former President Yameen, everyone must join PPM's widespread army.
Dr. Shaheem stressed that if no major action is taken today, the nation might incur irrevocable damage.
