Health Minister Ahmed [Kerafa] Naseem stated tonight that he would respond to questions regarding his resignation at a later date.
During tonight’s press conference, a journalist from “The Maldives Journal” highlighted to the Minister that Maldivians by and large, believe that the incumbent government has failed to manage the spread of Covid-19 in the country, and questioned whether he plans to take accountability for his Ministry’s gross incompetence and failure by resigning, as is the norm in other nations.
In response, Minister Naseem stated that an inquiry was underway into the allegations of negligence leveled at the health authorities including himself and that he would answer the question regarding his resignation upon the conclusion of this inquiry.
Meanwhile, the calls for his resignation continue to grow louder.
