Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) hosted an Aviation and Travel Industry Stakeholder Event today at Velana International Airport, bringing together representatives from major aviation and tourism organisations. Attendees included the Ministry of Tourism, Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC), Maldives Association of Travel Agents and Tour Operators (MATATO), Maldives Association of Tourism Industry (MATI), National Boating Association of Maldives (NBAM), Maldives Yacht Association (MAYA), airline representatives, and MACL’s senior management.
During the event, MACL’s CEO and Managing Director, Ibrahim Shareef Mohamed, highlighted the collaborative efforts of stakeholders that have driven significant achievements, including the anticipated arrival of the 2 millionth tourist by the end of December. He praised the aviation and tourism partners for their contributions to this milestone and stressed the importance of continued collaboration to sustain growth in both sectors.
CEO Shareef outlined the company's ongoing initiatives to enhance connectivity by introducing new airlines and routes and expanding cargo services to bolster the Maldives’ position as a top travel destination. He also emphasized infrastructure upgrades and the adoption of new technological solutions to improve operational efficiency and enhance customer experience at Velana International Airport.
The event provided an opportunity for stakeholders to network and celebrate the shared success of air service development, underscoring the importance of effective partnerships across aviation, tourism, and maritime sectors.
