The establishment of the Aviation Institute of Maldives (AIM) will further strengthen efforts to develop skilled professionals for the country’s aviation sector, Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) CEO and Managing Director Ibrahim Shareef Mohamed has said.
Shareef made the remarks at a ceremony held at Hulhule Island Hotel on Wednesday, during the official inauguration of AIM and its first graduation ceremony.
According to Shareef, MACL’s progress is built on the continued development of a capable and skilled workforce. He said a key objective of AIM is to provide MACL employees with the training and structured opportunities needed to obtain qualifications and advance their careers.
The ceremony marked the institute’s first graduation, with 29 students graduating after completing the Certificate 3 in Airport Security & Management programme.
The programme is a Level 3 qualification accredited by the Maldives Qualifications Authority (MQA), with the programme listed as a 15-week, full-time course delivered by AIM at the MACL corporate office in Hulhule.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, Shareef congratulated the graduating students and called on all MACL employees to make effective use of the educational and training opportunities available through the institute.
AIM, the dedicated training arm of MACL, is focused on developing aviation and airport professionals and strengthening the organisation’s operational capabilities and workforce development. It is officially registered as an institution-based training provider with the Maldives National Skills Development Authority.
The institute is also officially recognised by the Maldives Qualifications Authority, which currently lists programmes including the Diploma in Airport Operations, Diploma in Aviation Management, Certificate 3 in Airport Security & Management and Certificate 3 in Cargo Handling.
