Mo Hotels and Resorts Blacklisted Again for Failing to Pay Salaries

The Maldives Labor Relations Authority has blacklisted Mo Hotels and Resorts Private Limited, a company owned by Reeko Moosa Manik, for repeatedly failing to pay employee salaries. The company, which operates Rahaa Resort in L. Atoll, is co-owned by Reeko Moosa and his family.
This marks the second blacklisting for Mo Hotels in just two months. The Labor Relations Authority cited the company’s lack of cooperation in ongoing cases related to unpaid salaries and service charges. Complaints have also been lodged regarding overtime benefits.
The authority emphasized that, in addition to blacklisting, it holds the power to impose fines, which may be considered based on the progression of the case.
Reeko Moosa, who serves as a shareholder and board director of the company, has faced criticism in the past for similar issues, with several employees reporting salary-related grievances to authorities and the media.
This ongoing situation has sparked widespread concern, highlighting the challenges faced by workers in the hospitality sector.
