Vice President Advocates Showcasing Maldivian Hospitality and Patriotism to Tourists

Vice President Hussain Mohamed Latheef has emphasized the importance of effectively showcasing the Maldives' security, the hospitality of its people, and the nation’s unique cultural heritage to every tourist visiting the country. Speaking at the inaugural session of the seminar on Maldivian nationalism, titled "Kalhu-oh-fummi – Dhivehi Qaumiyyathu ge Dharubaaru", held at the Islamic University, he highlighted patriotism as a cornerstone of national identity and strength.
The Vice President noted that this seminar marks a significant step forward in creating awareness and fostering dialogue about patriotism and self-determination among Maldivians. He remarked that patriotism is crucial for ensuring the Maldives' survival as a free and thriving nation for generations to come, encouraging all citizens to take pride in their heritage.
In his address, he highlighted the Maldives’ unique cultural attributes, including its language, traditions, and craftsmanship, which he described as unparalleled even among the wealthiest nations. He also pointed to the country's natural allure, including its pristine white sandy beaches, stunning sandbanks, and vibrant marine environment, which continue to captivate the global imagination.
"We must reveal to the world the richness of our history, the ancient traditions, the resilience of our ancestors, and the charm of our language. These elements add to the glory of the Maldives," he said, urging efforts to exhibit the country’s safety, kindness, and hospitality to tourists.
The Vice President also stressed the need to protect the nation’s identity and instill patriotism among the younger generation. Acknowledging the government's commitment under President Mohamed Muizzu, he highlighted the inclusion of patriotism as a dedicated subject in the national education curriculum. He further mentioned the establishment of *Dhivehi Qaumiyyathu ge Isvaru* college to promote the study of patriotic expressions and other aspects of Maldivian heritage.
