Chinese Ophthalmologists Conduct 60 Surgeries at Hulhumale' Hospital as Part of Annual Eye Camp

A team of ophthalmologists from China has performed approximately 60 surgeries over the course of three days as part of an annual eye care camp held at Hulhumale' Hospital. Organized in collaboration with the Chinese government, the eye camp aims to provide critical eye health services to Maldivians, especially for those in need of complex procedures such as lens replacements.
Health Minister Abdulla Nazim and Chinese Ambassador Wang Lixin visited the hospital to observe the camp's progress and interact with the patients receiving treatment. Ambassador Wang expressed satisfaction with the initiative, noting in a social media post that the project not only demonstrates the strong relations between China and the Maldives but also directly benefits Maldivian citizens.
The eye camp, which began on November 5, has provided medical services to over 5,000 patients and facilitated more than 600 surgeries since its launch in 2016. This year’s program continues the long-standing tradition of providing comprehensive eye care, addressing various eye ailments and performing surgeries for individuals requiring corrective procedures.
