Chinese Ambassador Presents Credentials to President Muizzu

The new Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to the Maldives, His Excellency Kong Xianhua, formally presented his Letters of Credence to President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu this morning at the President's Office.

Ambassador Kong was received with a traditional "Haiykolhu" cultural procession, escorted from Republic Square by the MNDF Drum and Trumpet Band, reflecting the ceremonial importance of the occasion.

In the meeting that followed, President Muizzu welcomed the Ambassador and expressed hope for continued cooperation between the two nations. Ambassador Kong conveyed China's strong commitment to supporting the Maldives' development priorities, noting the special regard President Xi Jinping holds for the Maldives.

Diplomatic ties between the Maldives and China date back to October 14, 1972, marking over five decades of bilateral relations.
