Chinese Ambassador visits historic Utheem and extends National Day greetings to Maldivians.

Chinese Ambassador to the Maldives Kong Xianhua wished Maldivians a happy National Day following a visit to the historic island of Utheem.

In a social media post, Kong said a shared understanding of history binds a nation together. He quoted Marcus Garvey, stating that a people without knowledge of their past history, origin and culture is like a tree without roots.

History education, he said, passes down collective memory, forges national identity and nurtures shared consensus among generations. Kong described his visit to Utheem as “truly rewarding.”

He concluded by once again wishing Maldivian friends a happy National Day.
