4,000 Housing Units in Hulhumalé to Be Distributed by July 2025, Confirms FDC

The Maldives' ongoing Hulhumalé housing project is set to deliver 4,000 residential units by July 2025, according to Hamdan Shakeel, Managing Director of the Facilities Development Corporation (FDC). Of the 32 towers planned for the project, 24 have already been completed, with the remaining eight expected to be finished over the coming months.
Two Indian construction firms, KPIL and NBCC, are overseeing the development of the remaining towers. Shakeel revealed that eight towers under KPIL’s management are scheduled for handover this month, with five more expected to be completed by January 2024. Additionally, two towers managed by NBCC will be handed over by the end of this year, with the rest to follow in 2025.
The housing project forms a critical part of the Maldives’ broader strategy to alleviate housing shortages. In a recent decision, the government also announced that FDC will become a subsidiary of the Housing Development Corporation (HDC), further consolidating efforts to manage large-scale residential projects efficiently.
This handover marks a significant milestone in addressing housing demands in the rapidly growing Hulhumalé region.
