The Housing Development Corporation (HDC) has revealed plans to develop the beach area of Hulhumalé Phase II once it is vacated. The corporation stated that development will commence immediately after the area is cleared, with preparations already underway.
According to HDC, the current beach area in Phase II has been occupied by huts built by individuals for various commercial purposes. This has led to numerous issues as the site remains in the development stage and lacks essential facilities.
HDC emphasized that the company is committed to enhancing the area and setting up the necessary infrastructure. Once the development is complete, the beach area will be reopened for commercial activities under the prescribed rules.
Previously, HDC had acknowledged the challenges posed by the temporary structures and assured that efforts were being made to address these issues. The corporation has consistently aimed to utilize the resources available in Hulhumalé to provide the best possible services to its residents.
HDC expressed gratitude for the continued support from the residents of Hulhumalé, which has been instrumental in facilitating the corporation’s efforts to develop the area. The forthcoming development of the Hulhumalé Phase II beach area is expected to significantly improve the amenities available to the community.
