The Ministry of Islamic Affairs launched a scheme to provide additional training for imams to improve the quality of the religious scholars in the country.
The first batch of imams sent for training abroad has arrived back in Maldives after completing training in Saudi Arabia.
The imams left on the 16th of February for the short course.
The first batch of imams visited the Prophet's Mosque, the Quba Mosque, Mecca and Medina.
The second batch of imams will leave for Mecca after the Holy Month of Ramadan. The third batch will leave for Malaysia in June.
