2 Russian Airline to Begin Flight Operations to Maldives

Two Russian airlines have decided to operate flights to Maldives.
The flights to the Maldives are to be conducted by Russia’s Red Wings Airlines and Nordwind Airlines. Operations were previously decided to be conducted in collaboration with Maldivian tour operator Resort Life Holidays.
During an interview with state broadcaster Public Service Media (PSM), CEO of Resort Life Holidays Shaaz Waleed stated that the flight operations have now been agreed upon. Work is now underway to obtain the necessary permits for the flights.
“We are now working to obtain the flight operations permit from the Russian government. We are sure there are no limitations from the Maldivian government and hoping to receive the permits soon. If we receive permission from the Russian government in August, we can begin operations within the same month”, said Waleed.
Most tourists from the Russian market travel to Maldives through Resort Life. The company aims to bring between 300,000 to 500,000 tourists to Maldives by the end of 2021.
