President of People’s National Congress (PNC) and incumbent President of Progressive Congress Coalition Abdul Raheem Abdullah (Adhurey) has stated that the Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) requires 100,000 members for the 2023 presidential elections.
During a ceremony welcoming new members of PPM, Adhurey stated that citizens must now push their political ideologies aside and serve the nation, and that the best platform to do so is PPM/PNC.
He claimed that the most important task for PPM members in other atolls is to recruit new members to the party.
“PPM needs to amass 100,000 members for the presidential election, so that we may intimidate competition”, said Adhurey.
Data from the Elections Commission show that the party had 37,093 by June 30.
According to Adhurey, many are attempting to form new political parties, and while every country has two belief systems, these smaller parties cannot do much. He stated that the two belief systems in Maldives are a destructive belief system and President Yameen’s constructive belief system.
The destructive belief system is assumed to be the ruling MDP’s belief system.
Adhurey claimed that former President Yameen Abdul Gayoom’s constructive beliefs brought more developments in five years than what has been accomplished in 50 years, and that was the reason for his imprisonment.
