The name of a different political party was attached to the parliament-allocated office for Member of Parliament for Maamigili constituency Qasim Ibrahim's Jumhooree Party.
The incident was revealed by parliament representative for Bilehdhoo constituency Ahmed Haleem (Dhonbiley), in an image he sent to the parliament's WhatsApp group. A printed sheet attached under the name board of Jumhooree Party read 'MMP'. Written above MMP, was "Solih's Party".
Haleem stated to the parliament's WhatsApp group that this was a dismal matter and that using other names to refer to the office for Jumhooree Party must stop.
MP Haleem speculated a new party is being formed within Jumhooree Party. He claimed that Vice President of Jumhooree Party and parliament representative for Thimarafushi constituency Abdulla Riyaz is behind the movement, noting that it would create difficulties for Jumhooree Party.
During a meeting on Tuesday, Haleem revealed that Jumhooree Party Leader Qasim implored the conservation of his party during parliament sessions, and feared it may slip through his fingers if he were to miss a meeting.
Some suspect that President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih is behind the forming of a new party within Jumhooree Party.
