A 52-year-old Maldivian male was sentenced to 32 years in jail for several sexual offenses.
Prosecutor General Hussain Shameem tweeted that the 52-year-old male was convicted of four counts of sexual offenses against his stepdaughter.
The case was handled in Addu City, where the court sentenced the man to 32 years, one month, and 27 days in prison.
PG Shameem revealed that the man committed the crimes between May 2019 and July 2020. He was arrested in July 2020 and charged in August 2020.
This is the longest sentence issued for such an offense in recent years.
