The mutilated body of a 13-year-old girl, who was allegedly tortured and killed, was discovered in a sugarcane field in Lakhimpur Kheri, Uttar Pradesh. The girl went missing while returning from school, and her family reported her absence but did not file a formal complaint until the following morning when her disfigured body was found by local residents. The victim’s eyes had reportedly been gouged out, and her body showed signs of severe physical abuse.
Local police, led by Superintendent of Police (SP) Ganesh Prasad Saha, responded to the scene and launched an investigation, creating three teams to probe the crime. A post-mortem examination was ordered to determine the cause of death. The SP stated that initial observations indicated the girl had been beaten to death, but further facts would be confirmed following the medical examination.
The victim's mother blamed police inaction for her daughter's death, claiming that if authorities had acted promptly, her daughter might have been saved. The police are now questioning locals and the victim’s family as part of the investigation.
This tragic case has intensified calls for improved safety measures for girls in the region and brought scrutiny to local law enforcement's handling of missing persons reports.
