MDP Dedicated to Upholding Citizens' Rights

Maldives Democratic Party (MDP) is dedicated to upholding the public's rights, read a statement released on the occasion of the party's 16th anniversary.

The second political party to be registered in the Maldives, MDP initiated its activities abroad.

The statement claimed that the current situation was a cause for great sadness for the party, as former President and incumbent Speaker of Parliament Mohamed Nasheed had only nearly survived an assassination attempt. Despite the circumstances, MDP's resolve remained unwavering.

As President Nasheed previously stated, MDP's belief system would never dissipate, the statement further read. Their belief system advocates for justice in economics, politics, finances, independence, and human rights.

MDP declared that citizens' greatest expectations were entwined with the party due to the success and progress they had granted to the public.

The party has conducted a ceremonial flag hoisting at their main headquarters and office. Several party officials took part in the activities.
