Criminal Court of the Maldives
Criminal Court released an individual accused of grooming and luring a minor out of Kudakudhinge Hiyaa, and performing sexual acts with the child.
The 25-year-old Maldivian male accused of abusing a minor under state care was arrested on June 12.
He was summoned to court after the initial 10-day detention period expired. However, he was then released on probation.
The court order declaring his release stated that there was enough proof to show he committed the crime, but police did not object to his discharge.
Without police objection, the court decided there was no reason for his detention. Police stated that the child in question was found in the offender's room.
Police also confirmed that the offender had groomed and sexually abused the child.
The accused had a previous criminal record of drug use and gang fights.
