The Criminal Court has remanded a 21-year-old Bangladeshi national in custody for 15 days on allegations of damaging property at Velana International Airport (VIA).
According to the remand order issued yesterday, his detention period is set to expire on 8 November.
The court noted that the arrest was executed in compliance with due legal procedures. Sufficient preliminary evidence was presented to support the allegations against him, including an incident report from attending police officers and an official report submitted by Maldives Immigration.
Police stated that the suspect intentionally damaged a glass pane of the Immigration holding cell located inside the Terminal 1 arrival hall at VIA. The suspect chose to remain silent and did not make any statement regarding the allegations during his remand hearing.
