Parliament representative for Naifaru constituency Ahmed Shiyam said MDP is ineligible to run a decentralized system of government.
The statement was made during a debate regarding amendments in the decentralization law and civil service law, which would state that councilors' input was not needed to appoint the Secretary General as their superior.
The MP argued the amendment was in the government's best interest, and the public was aware that MDP is incapable of establishing a decentralized state. He revealed that they established offices to enforce orders to councils of uninhabited islands.
Shiyam stated that the intervention was unlawful, and the central government seized community funds. The state has laws that laws that look good on paper, but have no idea how to implement those laws, he said.
