Business forum for southern entrepreneurs to be held in Addu this month

Mohamed Saeed, Minister of Economic Development, Transport and Trade, has announced that a special business forum targeting entrepreneurs from southern Maldives will be held on May 14 and 15 in Addu City.
Speaking at a press conference at the President’s Office, Minister Saeed said the forum forms part of Government efforts to expand economic opportunities and introduce special incentives for businesses operating in the southern region from 2027 onwards.
According to the minister, the forum aims to provide information on available investment opportunities, business incentives and development plans for the region. It will be open to entrepreneurs involved in tourism, construction and other sectors.
He added that the event will bring together business representatives from across the southern atolls, alongside officials from several Government ministries and agencies.
Relevant institutions expected to participate include the ministries responsible for homeland security, fisheries, tourism and finance, among others.
The forum is expected to support regional economic development by strengthening engagement between the Government and the private sector in the south.
