Tourist arrivals to guesthouses in the Maldives have exceeded 200,000 so far this year, according to the latest statistics released by the Ministry of Tourism and Civil Aviation.
Data show that 201,182 tourists stayed in guesthouses as of the latest reporting date, accounting for 25.1 per cent of total arrivals.
Resorts continued to dominate the tourism sector, welcoming 561,189 visitors, representing 69.9 per cent of all tourists during the period.
Overall, the Maldives recorded 823,174 tourist arrivals, with an average of 6,639 visitors per day. This marks a 5.3 per cent decline compared to the same period last year.
China remained the leading source market, contributing 123,138 ტურists, or 15.3 per cent of total arrivals.
In terms of capacity, a total of 1,315 tourist establishments are currently in operation across the country, offering a combined 68,005 beds.
The figures reflect continued strength in resort-based tourism alongside steady growth in the guesthouse segment, which remains a key driver of local island tourism.
