Authorities close two more illegal foreign-run businesses in Malé

Authorities have closed two additional foreign-run businesses in Malé as part of ongoing efforts to curb illegal business operations in the country.
The operation was conducted by Maldives Immigration in coordination with the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade and the National Taskforce. A total of eight locations suspected of unauthorised commercial activity were inspected.
During the inspection, two foreign nationals were arrested for working without valid permits, and closure notices were issued to the two businesses found operating illegally.
The Government continues to urge the public to report suspected cases of illegal business activity by foreigners. Reports can be submitted anonymously through the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade website, via the hotline 3333199 (8:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.), or through the Immigration Watch portal.
