Elections Commission Allocates MVR 43.3 Million to Five Political Parties

The Elections Commission has instructed banks to deposit a total of MVR 43.3 million to five political parties that meet the membership requirements under Maldivian law.
This allocation comes from the annual state budget designated for political parties. The ruling People’s National Congress (PNC) will receive the highest share, totaling MVR 13.3 million, followed by the opposition Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) with MVR 8.4 million.
Distribution details:
- PNC: MVR 13,316,689.57
- MDP: MVR 8,454,780.51
- Jumhooree Party: MVR 2,656,598.57
- Maldives Development Alliance (MDA): MVR 1,769,648.69
- Adhaalath Party: MVR 1,713,538.65
Under the Political Parties Act, parties receive 0.1 percent of the state’s annual estimated revenue, distributed based on membership at a rate of MVR 193.23 per member.
As of June 30, PNC had the largest membership with 68,665 members, while MDP had 43,765 members. Jumhooree Party had 13,456 members, and Adhaalath Party had 8,844 members.
