Kulhudhuffushi City Inaugurates Tourism Advisory Board Ahead of Airport Opening

The Kulhudhuffushi City Tourism Advisory Board was officially inaugurated last night in a ceremony that included the signing of oaths by appointed members and the board’s first official meeting.
At the inaugural meeting, the board elected its leadership. Kulhudhuffushi City Deputy Mayor Ali Ahmed was appointed Chairperson of the Board, while Abdul Lateef Mohamed was elected as Vice Chairperson.
According to the Kulhudhuffushi City Council, this is the first of several volunteer advisory boards planned as part of a broader initiative to enhance community participation in municipal affairs and integrate expert input into local development projects.
The Tourism Advisory Board has been established with the specific aim of preparing Kulhudhuffushi City for the growth of its tourism sector in anticipation of the operational launch of Hanimaadhoo International Airport. A key focus for the board is ensuring that the economic benefits of tourism reach local residents by identifying and supporting opportunities for community involvement in the industry.
The Council noted that the board’s creation reflects a proactive approach to inclusive development and a commitment to aligning infrastructure expansion with local capacity and interest.
