Male' City Council to Ban Vehicles on Roads During Eid al-Adha

Maldives Tightens Vehicle Import Rules with New Permit Restrictions
Male' City Council has announced that land vehicles will be banned from all public roads in the Male' area during Eid al-Adha celebrations.
The vehicle ban will be in effect from 16:00 to 18:00 on the day of Eid al-Adha, as part of efforts to ensure public safety and allow residents to enjoy the occasion peacefully.
The Council has stated that the Public Service Section will issue special vehicle stickers for emergency travel at Thaisaykoashi on Friday. These stickers will be available in two time slots: from 08:30 to 10:30 in the morning, and from 14:00 to 15:45 in the afternoon.
Authorities have also warned that legal action will be taken against any individual who operates a vehicle during the restricted hours without proper authorization.
This vehicle restriction is part of an ongoing City Council policy introduced last year, which bans land vehicles from Male' roads from 16:00 to 18:00 on both Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha annually, unless otherwise specified.
