Tourist Arrivals from China to the Maldives Surpass 60,000

The number of tourists arriving in the Maldives from China has exceeded 60,000, making China the top source market for Maldivian tourism.
According to the latest statistics from the Ministry of Tourism, 59,641 tourists from China have visited the Maldives as of March 2nd, accounting for 13.4% of total arrivals this year.
Overall, the Maldives has welcomed 445,529 tourists so far in 2024, reflecting a 5.1% increase compared to the same period last year. In 2023, 423,861 tourists visited during this period, while in 2022, the figure stood at 362,559.
Currently, 1,137 tourism establishments are in operation across the Maldives, comprising 172 resorts, 15 hotels, 795 guesthouses, and 155 safari vessels. The total number of beds available in the tourism sector stands at 61,022.
The Maldives continues to see steady growth in visitor numbers, reinforcing its position as a leading global travel destination.
