Maldives Immigration is preparing to deport three expatriates involved in a brawl at Artificial Beach in Malé City on Friday evening. The individuals, all Indian nationals, were arrested by the Maldives Police Service after an altercation that escalated to assaulting a local resident who was recording the incident.
According to police, the incident occurred at approximately 8:30 p.m. and involved a group of foreigners. The three expatriates were apprehended and later transferred to Immigration for deportation proceedings.
Controller General of Immigration Mohamed Shamman Waheed, in a statement on X, affirmed the authority's swift action in processing the deportations. "We will not give second chances to expatriates who compromise the safety and civil liberties of others," Shamman said. He also emphasized the government's commitment to preventing similar incidents in the future.
While deportation proceedings are underway, police are continuing their investigation to gather more details about the incident.
