President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has reaffirmed his Administration’s commitment to creating a "digital-first, citizen-focused" Government that prioritizes accessibility, sustainability, and resilience through technological advancements.
Speaking during a roundtable discussion with the Estonian Digital Advisory Council, President Dr. Muizzu emphasized empowering all Maldivians through technology, ensuring equal access regardless of location. He highlighted the transformative potential of a digitally connected Maldives in enhancing governance, services, and the overall quality of life for its citizens.
President Dr. Alar Karis of Estonia commended the Maldives’ vision, sharing insights from Estonia’s own digital transformation journey. He underscored the importance of collaboration between the two nations to foster innovation and sustainable development through shared expertise.
Estonian digital leaders highlighted the essential role of private sector partnerships and the promotion of STEM education to drive technological progress. They expressed readiness to assist the Maldives in redesigning services, developing infrastructure, and advancing the nation’s digital agenda.
The meeting, held at the PoCo Pop and Contemporary Art Museum in Tallinn, included discussions on tailoring Estonia’s successful strategies to the Maldives’ unique context. Following the session, President Dr. Muizzu toured the museum, receiving a detailed briefing from Estonian IT visionary Mr. Linnar Viik.
