A milestone celebration was held last night to mark 50 years of Yanmar's impactful presence in the Maldives. Hosted by the Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC), the event reflected on the significant contributions of Yanmar and its long-standing partnership with MTCC in transforming the Maldivian fisheries and maritime sectors.
In his remarks, MTCC Managing Director Ahmed Saudhee expressed deep appreciation for the enduring collaboration between Yanmar and MTCC.
"On this occasion, I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to the Japanese government and Yanmar for their assistance in introducing Yanmar engines and the Y-RSW system to the Maldives," he stated.
Saudhee also highlighted the vital role of the Maldivian government in fostering this collaboration and addressed a key request from local fishermen to reduce the delivery time of Yanmar engines. In response, Mr. Jackson Tan, Managing Director of Yanmar Asia Corporation, assured that Yanmar is committed to addressing this concern.
“We will do our best to shorten delivery times and continue supporting the Maldives’ maritime sector,” Mr. Tan affirmed.
State Minister for Fisheries and Ocean Resources, Dr. Amzath Ahmed, emphasized Yanmar's pivotal role in driving progress in the Maldivian fishing industry.
"Yanmar’s heartfelt commitment to the future of Maldives fishing is one of the key reasons behind the sector's remarkable progress," he remarked, extending gratitude to Yanmar for their dedication and to MTCC for their exceptional service as local distributors.
The event also saw the introduction of Yanmar’s latest Y-RSW system, a cutting-edge technology designed to enhance the efficiency of fishing operations. Several awards were presented, including recognition for the best customers of Yanmar marine products and long-service awards to MTCC engineers.
A special appreciation award was also presented to key employees from MTCC and Yanmar for their significant contributions over the past five decades.
