President Muizzu Demands Global Action: "Hold Israel Accountable for Crimes Against Humanity"

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has issued a strong call for the international community to hold Israel accountable for its ongoing violations of international law, marking the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People. In his message on Friday, President Muizzu condemned Israel’s repeated acts of aggression, characterizing them as "callous genocidal acts" that threaten the very fabric of the multilateral international system.
President Muizzu emphasized that the ongoing occupation, violence, and oppression faced by Palestinians demand urgent action from the global community. He urged nations to use their political and economic influence to end the occupation, halt arms sales to Israel, and ensure those responsible for war crimes are brought to justice.
“The impunity with which Israel operates is not simply an attack on the Palestinian people but an attack on the whole multilateral framework,” the President stated, highlighting the broader implications of inaction.
Reaffirming the Maldives’ unwavering support for the Palestinian cause, President Muizzu called for a united international effort to protect Palestinian rights and dignity. He underscored the significance of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA), which has supported Palestinian refugees for over 75 years, urging nations to bolster their support for its crucial humanitarian work.
President Muizzu described the Palestinian struggle as deeply intertwined with Maldivian identity, stating, “For every Maldivian, Palestine’s struggle is our own struggle. We stand unwavering before the world in our commitment to ensure justice, dignity, and freedom are faithfully restored to the people of Palestine at every forum.”
He concluded his message by reiterating that a sustainable solution lies in establishing an independent, sovereign State of Palestine based on pre-1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
Earlier in the day, President Muizzu reaffirmed his support for Palestine in a post on his official X account, reinforcing his call for global solidarity on the occasion of the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People.
