Ibrahim Abdul Razzaq Haleem, CEO of Malé City Group of Hospitals, has announced the transformation of Dharumavantha Hospital into a fully functional tertiary-level facility, marking a significant milestone in the nation’s healthcare sector.
Speaking on MMTV's Bodu Khabaru programme, Abdul Razzaq highlighted the hospital’s journey from near stagnation to a state-of-the-art tertiary institution. Upon assuming leadership, he faced severe infrastructure challenges, including two out of three cooling systems in disrepair and underutilisation of three floors. Through dedicated efforts, these issues were resolved, enabling the hospital to establish critical services, such as:
- A cath lab on the 11th floor.
- Emergency services, labour suites, and a neonatal intensive care unit (NICU).
- Comprehensive tertiary-level healthcare services.
Abdul Razzaq credited the transformation to the current administration’s healthcare vision, particularly President Dr Mohamed Muizzu’s manifesto. He also outlined notable advancements across hospitals in the Malé region:
