The government has contracted two foreign companies to take care of maintaining the Dharumavantha Hospital building that had been erected during former President Abdullah Yameen's administration.
According to a statement from the Ministry of Finance, the maintenance work had been handed over to Singapore's Shenhua Construction and Turkey's Turmaks for a period of three years.
Turmaks had supplied Dharumavantha Hospital with medical supply as a donation from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Shenhua Construction had been contracted to conduct maintenance of the hospital building, including its various systems, for a sum of MVR 15.7 million. The maintenance of the hospital's medical equipment had been contracted to Turmaks for MVR 4.6 million.
The Ministry of Finance had stated that Turmaks had been selected for maintaining the hospital's medical equipment due to the high quality of their previous performance, and Shenhua had been selected for the building's structural maintenance as no other company was capable of such a task.
The President's Office had also requested that the hospital's staff also be trained to carry out maintenance work as part of the contract.
