Business Center Corporation (BCC) Managing Director Ibrahim Ziyau has emphasized efforts to ensure local farmers' produce reaches global markets. Speaking at the opening of "Ihuru Bazaar" in Thoddoo, Ziyau highlighted that the initiative, guided by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu's vision, aims to enhance the quality and visibility of Maldivian farm products for both tourists and locals. Ziyau expressed optimism about expanding similar markets nationwide, creating global opportunities for farmers.
Thoddoo, known for its agricultural productivity and tourist appeal, is seen as a strategic location for launching Ihuru Bazaar. This market will allow tourists to experience the island's agricultural output firsthand, increasing the popularity of local produce.
Ziyau remarked, "With Ihuru Bazaar's opening, we’re unlocking many opportunities for local farmers. This is just the beginning, and our goal is to launch similar markets across the country."
This aligns with the government's broader focus on diversifying the economy, especially in light of tourism's significant role, and promoting local products to an international audience.
