The Business Center Corporation Limited (BCC) has announced plans to further develop the Hiyala Market, a platform designed to promote products created by Maldivian women entrepreneurs. Located in Hulhumale’s Container Park, the market is part of the government's initiative to foster local entrepreneurship, especially among women.
In a statement, the BCC revealed that it is seeking proposals from contractors capable of carrying out necessary enhancements for the Hiyala Market. Improvements will include the installation of fences, shelters for customers, kiosks, and electrification of the market area. The development is part of the broader plan to make the market a more convenient and permanent fixture for vendors and customers alike.
An information session regarding the bidding process will take place at 1400 hrs on Monday at the BCC office, M. Kaneeruvilla. Interested parties must submit their estimates by October 20.
The Hiyala Weekend Market, which was inaugurated on January 19, is held weekly and serves as a platform for women over the age of 18 to sell their products. It is a core element of President’s Week-14 roadmap, which aims to support women entrepreneurs by providing dedicated spaces for their businesses in Hulhumale’.
