Maldives Vice President Arrives in Samoa for CHOGM 2024

Vice President of the Maldives, His Excellency Uz Hussain Mohamed Latheef, arrived in Apia, Samoa, this morning to attend the 27th Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) 2024. Accompanied by a high-level government delegation, the Vice President is set to engage in significant discussions on pressing global issues.

Upon arrival at Faleolo International Airport, Vice President Latheef was welcomed by Hon. Faualo Harry Jeffrey Schuster, Samoa's Minister for Police and Prisons, and Her Excellency Dr. Iruthisham Adam, the Maldivian High Commissioner to the UK.

Throughout his visit, Vice President Latheef is scheduled to participate in a range of high-level engagements. These include attending the Commonwealth Business Forum and holding bilateral meetings with world leaders, aimed at strengthening the Maldives' international role and contributions to global challenges.

In addition, the Vice President will join the Executive Sessions of CHOGM and deliver key interventions on behalf of the Maldives.

This visit highlights the Maldivian government’s ongoing commitment to international cooperation under the leadership of President His Excellency Dr. Mohamed Muizzu. The administration continues to prioritize active global engagement and fostering strong bilateral relations with key international partners.
