Maldives continues to experience strong growth in tourism, with an average of 5,428 tourists arriving daily this year, according to the latest data released by the Ministry of Tourism. This marks a 9.5% increase compared to the same period in 2023, highlighting the country’s robust recovery in the post-pandemic tourism landscape.
The Ministry's statistics reveal that as of October 15, a total of 1,568,830 tourists have visited the Maldives, significantly up from 1,432,564 recorded in the corresponding period last year. In 2022, a total of 1,259,826 tourists visited the Maldives by this time, demonstrating a consistent upward trend in visitor numbers.
China currently leads as the top source market, contributing 14.8% of total tourist arrivals, with 232,858 Chinese visitors arriving in the Maldives so far this year. Russia follows closely with 171,348 tourists, while the United Kingdom ranks third, accounting for 131,910 arrivals.
Tourism infrastructure in the Maldives has expanded accordingly to meet rising demand. The country now boasts 1,220 tourist establishments, including 167 resorts, 887 guesthouses, 152 safari vessels, and 14 hotels, offering a combined capacity of 61,296 beds. These diverse options continue to attract international travelers, enhancing the Maldives' reputation as a premier destination.
