President Muizzu: "Maldives-China Relationship is Built on Trust and Mutual Respect"

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu underscored the strong foundation of the Maldives-China relationship during a reception celebrating the 75th Anniversary of the Founding of the People's Republic of China. He emphasized that the two nations share a relationship rooted in trust, mutual respect, and a firm commitment to sovereignty and non-interference.
“The relationship between the Maldives and China is built on the solid foundation of trust, mutual respect, and a shared commitment to the principles of sovereignty and non-interference,” President Muizzu said in his address to dignitaries at the event.
President Muizzu extended his heartfelt congratulations to China’s leadership and its people on behalf of the government and citizens of the Maldives. He praised China's resilience and its impressive growth on the global stage. “China’s trajectory of resilience, coupled with a commitment to modernization, has firmly established its position as a powerful force in the global economy,” he noted.
Reflecting on China’s influence and impact on the world, the President described the nation as a shining example of what can be achieved through determination. “China has been a shining beacon of what a nation can achieve through dedication and hard work,” he stated.
President Muizzu also spoke of the profound impact China’s rise has had on other developing nations. “China’s rise is not just its own story—it is a source of inspiration for all developing nations, including the Maldives,” he remarked.
Looking toward the future, President Muizzu expressed his optimism for deepened collaboration between the Maldives and China. He mentioned a wide range of areas, from trade and tourism to renewable energy and infrastructure, where the two countries could continue working together. “We envision even greater cooperation between our nations in areas such as trade, tourism, agriculture, fisheries, renewable energy, and cultural exchange in addition to housing and infrastructure development,” he highlighted.
President Muizzu closed his speech by emphasising the importance of continued cooperation on global challenges like climate change and sustainable development, expressing his confidence that the bonds between the two nations will only strengthen in the coming years.
