Parliament Elects Leadership for US-Maldives Friendship Group

In a meeting held today of the US-Maldives Friendship Group, members elected Ahmed Azaan, the MP for Hithadhoo Central, as the chair, and Adam Zahir, the Felidhoo MP, as the vice-chair. Both Azaan and Zahir were unanimously voted into their respective positions by the members who participated in the election.

The primary objective of the US-Maldives Friendship Group is to foster and enhance diplomatic and bilateral relations between the United States and the Maldives. Azaan, who also holds the vice-chair position for the China-Maldives Friendship Group, will now play a pivotal role in steering the group’s efforts to strengthen ties with the US. Adam Zahir, who leads the Russia-Maldives Friendship Group, will assist in furthering the group's objectives as vice-chair.
