Parliament Elects Chair and Deputy Chair of China-Maldives Friendship Group
The China-Maldives Friendship Group of the parliament has elected its chairman and vice-chairman to further strengthen bilateral relations between the two nations.
Mahibadhoo MP Ahmed Thariq (Tom), has been elected as the chairman of the China-Maldives Friendship Group, with Hithadhoo Central Constituency MP Ahmed Azaan appointed as vice-chairman. This group is dedicated to enhancing diplomatic and economic ties between China and the Maldives.
The China-Maldives Friendship Group boasts the highest number of members among the various parliamentary friendship groups, reflecting the significant interest in fostering strong bilateral relations.
Tom, who leads the group, also serves on the influential 241 Committee, while Vice-Chairman Azaan is a member of both the Public Accounts Committee and the 241 Committee.
