The Maldives has initiated reforms to its Sports Act, aiming to strengthen the management of national sports associations. Minister of Sports, Fitness, and Recreation, Abdulla Rafiu announced the amendments, emphasizing the need to address the administrative challenges currently hindering the promotion of sports in the country.
A news release from the Ministry of Sports, Fitness, and Recreation on the 'Government' website highlighted the poor management of associations under the ministry as a significant issue. Minister Rafiu is actively working to resolve these problems and elevate the standards of Maldivian sports associations.
Minister Rafiu indicated that the proposed amendments to the Sports Act will be submitted to the Attorney General next month. He also noted ongoing administrative issues within two associations, stating that he is closely monitoring the situation and is committed to finding solutions.
