Tourism Minister Ibrahim Faisal announced that a Dubai-based company has been selected to develop tourism on three islands in Laamu Atoll. The announcement was made during a meeting organized by the Progressive National Congress (PNC) last night.
Minister Faisal stated that the three islands, which were recently opened for bidding, have received proposals that are currently under evaluation. These proposals will be forwarded to the Police Department of the President's Office for further assessment. The award letter has already been issued to the Dubai-based company with the approval of President Mohamed Muizzu.
“One of the islands has already had its payment made to the Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA) by the company,” Minister Faisal reported. He also mentioned that the payments for the remaining two islands are expected to be completed within this month, with construction slated to begin in the next two to three months.
