Central Prison to be Established in North Thilafalhu: Minister Ali Ihusaan

Minister of Homeland Security, Ali Ihusaan, has announced the establishment of a central prison in North Thilafalhu as part of the government's efforts to improve prison conditions. This announcement was made during a session of the Parliament's National Security Committee.
Minister Ihusaan revealed that the Cabinet has approved the new facility, which will adhere to international standards. A 30-hectare plot of land in North Thilafalhu has been designated for the prison, which will be situated at the furthest point from residential areas.
The planned central prison will serve as a comprehensive rehabilitation facility, aiming to reintegrate inmates into society successfully upon their release. Rehabilitation programs will include opportunities for paid work, which is expected to reduce the state’s expenditure on prisons.
Minister Ihusaan expressed confidence that this new facility will not only improve incarceration conditions but also ensure that inmates are better prepared to re-enter society as accepted and productive members.
