President H.E. Dr. Mohamed Muizzu attended the opening ceremony of the Fourth International Conference on Small Island Developing States (SIDS4) today. Upon his arrival, he was warmly received by H.E. António Guterres, the Secretary-General of the United Nations (UN), and H.E. Gaston Browne, the Prime Minister of Antigua and Barbuda.
The International Conference on Small Island Developing States, held every ten years by the UN, provides a crucial platform for SIDS to address their unique challenges and opportunities. SIDS4, themed “Charting the Course Towards Resilient Prosperity,” brings together leaders and stakeholders to collaborate on creating a more sustainable, prosperous, and resilient future for small island nations.
President Dr. Muizzu is set to deliver his National Statement at the opening ceremony, where he will emphasize the Maldives' commitment to the goals of SIDS4 and the importance of international cooperation in achieving sustainable development.
