Dr. Ali Naseer Presents Credentials to UN Secretary General

The Permanent Representative of the Republic of Maldives to the United Nations, Dr. Ali Naseer Mohammed, presented his credentials to the UN Secretary-General today at the UN headquarters in New York.
Dr. Ali Naseer, who was appointed to the post on April 7, following Parliament's approval on April 29 last year, participated in the letter presentation ceremony.
Prior to his appointment as Maldives' Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Dr. Ali Naseer chaired the Presidential Transition Committee during the transitional period after the election of President Dr. Mohammed Muizzu. He also served as Ambassador at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
With extensive experience in the foreign service, Dr. Ali Naseer is considered one of the most seasoned diplomats in Maldives. He began his career in the Foreign Ministry in 1985 and has held various diplomatic positions since then.
Having served in several diplomatic missions of Maldives, this marks Dr. Ali Naseer's second tenure as Maldives' Representative to the United Nations. He previously represented the country at the United Nations during the administration of former President Yameen. Additionally, he served as Maldives' Ambassador to Canada from 2017 to 2019.
Dr. Ali Naseer pursued his higher education at the National University of Australia, where he obtained his PhD in International Relations.
